If you know Olivia, you know that she is our animal lover. When we had chicks, she was the one packing them around in her doll stroller! So what better way to celebrate her turning seven than with a barnyard birthday party?
Decorating was easy ... good old Fisher - Price farm, some cupcakes that look like Shaun the Sheep, and a green tablecloth pasture where they could graze.
Black cardstock and tiny googly eyes for the sheep heads, and lots of mini marshmallows for their wool. I found it was easiest to dip freshly frosted cupcakes into a bowl of marshmallows, rather than sticking them all on by hand. A dab of frosting to attach the heads and they were ready to say baa!
Baa! These sheep look like they are up to no good ...
I needed a super simple craft for a houseful of seven-year-olds, so I came up with this paper plate chicken. Have the kids fold a plate in half, then glue on feathers, googly eyes, and tape on a paper triangle beak (folded in half too). Their little hens were fun to rock back and forth!
These chickens may not lay eggs, but they sure are cute (and easy to make)!

For party favors, I filled cello bags with farm animal figurines from the craft store, strawberry candies, and watermelon gum balls. How's that for farm-esque?
